Introducing the AA Nuts and Bolts Facebook Group: Connecting Recovery Communities Online

Building Bridges for Support, Stories, and Speaker Meetings

I’m excited to introduce the AA Nuts and Bolts Facebook Group—a private online community created to connect members from “the rooms” and foster support for those on the journey to recovery. Inspired by the success of the AA Nuts and Bolts blog https://www.aanutsandbolts.com, which is based in Corpus Christi and focused on South Texas, this group takes our mission a step further by providing a new platform for sharing practical advice, personal experiences, and encouragement tailored to the unique challenges of sobriety.

Our Facebook group is designed to bring people together from all walks of life, leveraging the “degrees of separation” concept to expand our network and help more individuals. You might notice group members you haven’t met before—many are friends I’ve made over the years in different recovery spaces. Now, as a member, you can also invite others to join and help grow our supportive community.

To ensure privacy and safeguard everyone’s anonymity, the AA Nuts and Bolts group is invitation-only and will not appear in Facebook searches. This creates a secure, welcoming space where members can share openly and build meaningful connections.

Several ideas inspired the creation of this group. After transforming our email newsletter into a blog, it was clear that subscribers enjoyed the content and would benefit from a collaborative space where many could contribute. Recently, someone suggested hosting an online Speaker meeting—making it possible to feature speakers from anywhere with an internet connection. Through our group, we can organize weekly Speaker meetings that are visible in the feed and simulcast via Zoom for even greater reach. While online Speaker meetings aren’t new, I’m motivated by the potential to bring together friends and peers from across the country without the need for travel.

With your participation and support, we can develop this group into a valuable tool for recovery. Let’s connect, share our experiences, and help each other on the road to sobriety. I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions—thank you for being part of this journey.
