Experience the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous Through Focused Study and Fellowship
Are you seeking a deeper connection with the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous? The Bookmarks Group is excited to announce our ongoing Primary Purpose Group Big Book Study, held every Thursday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at First Christian Church, located at the corner of Sinclair & Santa Fe (3401 Santa Fe St, Corpus Christi, TX 78411). Look for the Circle & Triangle Signboard at the edge of the parking lot, and enter through the door closest to Santa Fe St.—we can’t wait to welcome you!
This is an open meeting, and everyone interested in learning about the program of Alcoholics Anonymous is invited to attend. Whether you are new to recovery or have years of sobriety, our study session offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the wisdom of our fellowship’s foundational text. As Bill Wilson wrote in the original manuscript of Alcoholics Anonymous: “Having had a spiritual experience as the result of this course of action, we tried to carry this message to others, especially alcoholics, and practice these principles in all our affairs.” Inspired by this, we gather to support each other and carry the message forward.
Unlike general discussion meetings, this group is dedicated solely to studying the Big Book, Line-By-Line. Our group conscience has chosen to use the “Big Book Study Guide” developed by the Primary Purpose Group of Dallas, a tool carefully crafted to help us stay focused and gain clarity from the text. The study format is led by Joe, who has facilitated this exact approach in Austin, and is now bringing his experience to our Corpus Christi community.
The study guide is available for free to anyone attending, making this resource accessible to all who seek it. By following this structured format, we strive to truly understand the guidance the authors intended for us—so that we may fulfill our primary purpose, as described in Tradition 5: “Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.”
If the Big Book is central to your recovery, and you recognize that your sobriety and serenity depend on its teachings, this meeting is for you. Experience the message of Alcoholics Anonymous in a supportive, focused setting, and join us on the Road of Happy Destiny. Together, let’s deepen our recovery and help others along the way.
