Celebrating Unity, Recovery, and Lifelong Connections

The 72nd Annual Coastal Bend Jamboree was truly a weekend to remember, overflowing with joy, fellowship, and unforgettable moments. Despite a chilly cold snap, members of our fellowship journeyed from near and far—even beyond state lines—to gather, rejoice, and share in the blessings of recovery. The atmosphere was electric with excitement, laughter, and the warmth of genuine camaraderie. New friendships blossomed, old bonds deepened, and the powerful stories shared reminded every attendee that this journey, anchored in faith, is never walked alone.

This year’s Jamboree was more than just an event—it was a living testament to the miracles of sobriety and the strength that comes from community. For many, hearing familiar messages in new ways sparked renewed hope and growth. The presence of so many dedicated souls, all intent on spreading the message of recovery, underscored a profound truth: we never have to face our struggles alone, and with God’s grace, we are transformed in ways we never imagined possible.

After the festivities concluded, Jim L., our 2025-2026 Chairman, sent a heartfelt message to every volunteer and contributor who made the weekend possible: “Thank you very much for all your efforts this weekend and in the months leading up to it. I’m very grateful for your flexibility, creativity, conscientiousness, and diligence. You knocked it out of the park.” His gratitude resonated with all whose hard work and commitment made the Jamboree an extraordinary success.

Highlights from the Weekend

  • Friday: Opening Night – The weekend began with a moving flag ceremony as every Group paraded their flag, symbolizing hope and unity. The night’s keynote by Belinda F. from New Orleans filled the room with energy and inspiration, followed by sing-along bingo and heartfelt connections.
  • Saturday: Growth and New Traditions – The day kicked off at 7:00 AM with a Men’s and a Woman’s meeting, sparking new friendships. Braving the weather, Jimmy M. led a successful inaugural fun run, proving our resilience knows no bounds. Powerful stories from John M. (“Red”) of Greenville, SC, and KC, an Al-Anon speaker from Horseshoe Bay, TX, touched hearts and encouraged hope. The old-timers meeting, featuring members with up to 58 years of sobriety, was a moving testament to perseverance and wisdom.
  • Expanding Our Embrace – A meaningful milestone was achieved with the first-ever Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA) speaker, Jamal W. from Austin, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity. The evening closed with an eagerly awaited keynote from Shelley T. of Tyler, TX, and a lively after-party with the Anonymity Band, where music and dancing celebrated the joys of recovery and friendship.

As we reflect on this remarkable weekend, we are reminded that what makes the Jamboree truly special is not just the events and speakers, but the spirit of unity, hope, and service that brings us together year after year. Here’s to many more weekends to remember—may the bonds we build and the hope we share continues to inspire us all.
